Life in general

I have been working on benchmarking these days. There is a lot of data mining that I need to present in about a week's time. On top of that our CTO is going on a vacation. I don't know who he is going to select as the incharge while he is gone but I hope he is as nice as him (nearly impossible). I really think our CTO is one of the finest CTOs in the world. No seriously, I mean it. I feel very lucky to be working with him.

HBO sucks bad. I recently subscribed to it but they just keep repeating the same movies (not that I ever have time to watch a movie).

Man, I haven't taken any photo for the Fotohunt contest over at Fotolog this week. I missed it last week too and it seems like I will have to start shopping for some cup cakes soon (if you don't take a photo, you gotta buy 'em cup cakes).

Ok, that's about it for now. I gotta go and do some real work.

FTC complaint against HP / Compaq / Aon Warranty Group / Aon Innovative Solutions

Today I filed a complaint with FTC against HP/Compaq and Aon Warranty Group / Aon Innovative Solutions, Inc. Following is an excerpt of that complaint:

On 08/13/2003 I purchased an extended service (warranty) plan from Aon Innovative Solutions Inc, a subsidiary of Aon Warranty Group for my Compaq brand laptop computer (model Compaq 2800T / 470033-089 and serial number *********). The terms and conditions of my extended warranty stated that I can either call for "Depot Service" or arrange for "Express Exchange" when I need service. Under the "Depot Service" my laptop was to be repaired within a short amount of time and if the laptop was unrepairable, I had the option to opt for "Express Exchange" under which I could get a refurbished laptop. However, this year when I sent the laptop for service, my warranty claim was denied unlawfully and my laptop is neither being repaired nor I am being provided with a refurbished unit under the "Express Exchange" program of the warranty that I purchased. The company is falsefully denying my claim so they will not have to fulfill their obligations. I request FTC to investigate this company in detail as the company is selling warranties and then refusing to honor them in the hopes of making illegal profits. I can be reached at the number provided above. Thank you

Based on experience, warranties purchased through retail chains such as Best Buy give you much real service than a phony warranty that Aon sells just to make money.

More details to come. If you have been a victim of such denial by Aon Warranty / Aon Innovative Solutions, please contact me by posting a comment or writing to softwareengineer99 at yahoo dot com.
